The best kindergarten ever, without a doubt. I fondly remember my vivid memories and they always put a smile on my face. Wee Care really helped me in my times of need and for that, I am forever grateful. They gave me the foundation levels I needed that played a massive role in shaping who I am and h...

History & Background

Wee Care was birthed from a heart that wants the best for infants, toddlers, children with special needs and their parents. Founded in 1996 by teacher and mother of three, Mrs Denise Lai, Wee Care began as a provider of home-based midwifery services to babies and new mothers. Eventually, the services took on an educational nature to ensure that infants and toddlers developed well whilst their parents were at work.

Three years later, Parent-Child PlayGroups were introduced to give working parents the opportunity to develop deeper bonds with their babies and toddlers through motivated, directed and purposeful play. At the same time, Behavioural Management Programmes were added to the fold to provide early assistance to children with special learning needs.

Today, Wee Care stands out among the crowd of educational centres as the home-grown pioneer in research-based Infant Development, Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention Programmes.

It is also one of the top centres in Singapore for the rehabilitation of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other developmental problems.

Education Philosophy

Pedagogical Approach (Learning Through Play)

At Wee Care, we believe that play is the best way to teach and to learn. Play however, comes in many different forms, and it also requires highly responsive and engaging play partners.
Wee Care practises these areas of "play" in the classrooms, so that children enjoy learning:

Pretend Play: when children symbolise and work out their emotions and understanding of the world in safe and non-threatening ways

Sensorial Play: when children use their senses to perceive, process and organize visual, auditory, tactile, and other kinds of sensory information from the environment around them.

Constructive Play: when children use their eyes and hands in functional and constructive ways

Art & Craft: when children use their eyes and hands in creative and artistic ways

Kinesthetic Play: when children learn to use their bodies in strong and healthy ways

Dramatic Play: when children use their imaginations to explore a different world

Experiential Play: when children test their ideas to form conclusions about the world around them

Social / Co-operative Play: when children learn to play together in positive and friendly ways

Wee Care also does Life Skills lessons, every week. The main goals in Life Skills are to encourage our children to acquire important and adaptive competencies in caring for themselves and others. Weekly topics change, and incorporate fun and hands-on activities in cleaning, washing, dressing and cooking.

The older children (4 – 6 years old) will also embark on the The Project Approach that integrates concept from Mathematics, Science and Language in the process of initiating, presevering through and completing a task of investigation. In particular, the children are encouraged to
observe and measure phenomena reason and think through prediction, deduction or inference, represent ideas, concepts and results through art, pictures and words.
