Details
The elementary school at SAIS takes both student and staff wellbeing very seriously and it is culturally embedded in everything we do. Our intention is to encourage everyone to become more involved in creating a positive Elementary School. A Culture of Care has a lasting positive effect on student’s academic and social success.
Join us to find out about our holistic approach to student development. We will explore how social emotional learning is a key element for school success and how our focus on wellbeing and relationships creates a culture of belonging for all students.
We will take a closer look at how we are intentional at encouraging students and staff to take leadership and ownership of various aspects of wellbeing and implement them throughout the community. This will include the exploration of some of the initiatives we have implemented such as: 'teacher to teacher mentoring' and 'peer mentoring' programs, where elementary leaders and outside agencies work with our community to instill important social/emotional skills and strategies such as gratitude, the importance of happiness, and how to lead through our actions.
Lastly we will look closer at a number of different wellness initiatives that students and staff have worked through across the division; how we collect data and are responsive to the needs of our community. The webinar will also have a 20-min Q&A session where participants can have their questions answered.
