This month, the town is painted red with lanterns, banners, and lights in celebration of the Lunar New Year! At Gateway Kids Club, we’re also celebrating with exciting stories about the festive season—hear about the cheeky Kitchen God, learn about the origins of some New Year traditions, and discover how the animals made it into the Chinese zodiac. Come join us for a roaring good time!

 

8th February, 10:00 am – A Sticky Tradition by Storyteller Nat 

Zao Jun, the cheeky Kitchen God, faces a clever family’s plan to outwit his Lunar New Year mischief!


8th February, 11:00 am – The Legend of Nian ·年兽的传说 by Storyteller William · 故事人伟

Learn why we decorate our houses red and use firecrackers in this beloved traditional story! · 你知道为什么我们在农历新年时要用红色物品装饰房子和放鞭炮吗?


15th February, 10:00 am – The Magic Paintbrush by Storyteller Dwayne

Ma Liang’s magic paintbrush brings drawings to life, but the evil Mandarin schemes to steal it for selfish gains!


22nd February, 10:00 am – The Great Race by Young Storyteller from The Storyteller Centre

Discover how twelve animals joined the Chinese zodiac in a thrilling race filled with animals, challenges, and a little trickery!
